This introductory course in Environmental Science provides a foundational understanding of the physical, biological, and social elements that interact within Earth’s ecosystems. It is a 1-credit, stand-alone lab course designed to complement environmental theory with hands-on exploration. Students conduct experiments, field sampling, and data collection across ecological, chemical, and physical processes. Labs include microbial ecology, nutrient analysis, fluid dynamics, and culminate in a capstone research project. This course develops practical scientific skills in measurement, hypothesis testing, analysis, and communication.

This course studies components and interactions that make up natural systems of our home planet. It teaches basic concepts in biological, chemical, physical, and earth sciences in a laboratory format. Note: EVPP 108 and 109 can be used to fulfill a 4-credit lab science requirement. Offered by Environmental Science & Policy. Limited to three attempts.
