A course detailing the history and growth of competitive electronic sports (esports) around the world and a dive into the design decisions and focus necessary when creating games for a competitive environment.

-          Cover the history of competitive video games, from early arcade records to modern international tournaments with massive prize pools

-          Analyse games which have seen success in the competitive scene, examining what led to their success and what issues they have faced

-          Consider why some games aimed at competitive areas failed to see success in those areas and how to learn from their mistakes

-          Learn and discuss what makes competitively focused games different from more general games and how those differences need to be accounted for in design, team composition, marketing/business, and in the lifecycle planned for the game
