Mason Korea Shines at 2024 IGC Research Showcase

Mason Korea faculty and students made a strong showing at the 2024 annual Incheon Global Campus (IGC) Research Showcase, fostering research collaboration among the four universities on campus.

Dr. John Leung moderated the first panel, featuring presentations from Mason Korea's own Dr. Shannon N. Davis, Associate Dean for Faculty and Academic Affairs and Director of the Industry-University Collaboration Foundation (IUCF). Dr. Davis's presentation explored "Nature, Nurture, and Adult Gendered Selves: An Examination of Twin and Non-Twin Siblings." Joining her on the panel was Dr. Yaman Erzurumlu, who delved into "National Innovation Capability under Economic Uncertainty."

The second panel featured Dr. Moon Joon Kim's presentation on "Statistical Illusion or Tangible Effect? Unveiling the Relationship Between Carbon Dioxide and Respiratory Health." Dr. Miriam Ahmed presented on "Zillybits Adventures: Editorial Design in Pedagogy and Practice" during the final panel.

The showcase also included a dedicated space for student and faculty research exhibits. Faculty posters included Dr. Yingji Jin's comparative study on "Chinese and Korean Versions of Michelle Zauner’s Crying in H Mart," Dr. Eunmee Lee and Crystal Seo's project "Seedfolks: Impact of English Drama in Citizens' Continuing Education Program," and a collaborative effort by Dr. Teresa L Michals and student Kyungyen Lee on "Translating Historic Korean Children’s Literature for English-Language Readers."

Over 20 Mason Korea student research posters were also displayed, with one Mason Korea team securing third place for their poster research.
