Throughout history, human alterations of the environment have improved our lives by enhancing health, longevity, and access to wealth, mobility, and leisure. However, these changes have also harmed natural systems through pollution, soil erosion, species extinction, and more—threatening our well-being and long-term survival. Environmental science examines how the natural world operates, how it affects us, and how our actions impact it. By understanding these interactions, we can develop innovative solutions to today’s environmental challenges. In this course, you will explore the core concepts of environmental science and delve into major issues such as global climate change and biodiversity loss, all through an interdisciplinary lens that integrates diverse perspectives and traditional disciplines.

Topics range broadly from global populations and wastewater treatment to environmental law, and genetic engineering. Includes both science and science policy of the environment.
