- Subject to room availability, the Housing Office will conduct the first round of calls starting at 3:00 PM on August 11, 2026. Students will be contacted at the phone number provided in the housing application form, with up to two consecutive call attempts from 032-626-5025 / 5034. If a student does not answer two consecutive phone calls, the application will be considered INVALID, and the next candidate will be contacted.
- Please note that ONLY students will be contacted, NOT their parents.
- If a student accepts the room offer, payment must be completed by the designated deadline. Prompt payment is strongly encouraged.
Appeal Process
- Continuing students who did not receive a housing assignment during the initial selection process may appeal their waitlist status. All appeals must be submitted within 72 hours of the initial housing selection announcement using the designated form and sent via email to the Director of Student Life, Blake Weiss (bweiss6@gmu.edu).
- Special note for parents: Please note that the Housing Office does not accept individual inquiries regarding housing selection results. Please refrain from making phone calls, as this may delay the administrative process.
- Room selection eligibility for students who wish to live on campus will be determined through the application process based on internal housing selection criteria and IGC housing capacity.
- Eligibility for on-campus housing for continuing students will be determined in the following order of priority: commuting distance, class standing, and application submission time.
- Commuting distance will be calculated based on public transportation travel time. Students who live farther from campus will be given priority.
- Within the same commuting distance category, priority will be given to students with lower class standing.
- If multiple students receive the same evaluation result based on commuting distance and class standing, priority will be given to those who submitted their applications first.
Room Type
Students will be asked to choose between double and single room as a part of the housing application process. When it comes to selecting the room type, it is important to note that availability is limited, and therefore, it is possible that you may not be assigned to the room type you chose during the application.
Preferences
Students are encouraged to leave their preferences on lower/higher floor, kitchen, roommates, and etc. in a comment section. It is essential to understand that due to limited resources, it may not be possible to accommodate all students' preferences.
Application Result and Payment
Students approved for the housing residency will be notified individually. The notification will be sent to your university email account. Students selected to live on campus for the term must log in to the IGC Housing website using their IGC account credentials and access My Page to check the following details;
- Approved room type (single or double)
- Payment process
Because IGC Housing only accepts domestic wire transfers, international students are allowed a grace period of 2 months after moving in to complete their payment. IGC Housing will send out payment instructions shortly after check-in. Once you have payment information for the IGC, follow one of the methods below to complete the housing payment.
Method 1: Wire Transfer Using Korean Bank Account
This is the method especially recommended for students planning on staying in Mason Korea longer than one semester. If you choose to create a bank account, you must visit a local bank near campus with the following legal documents:
- Passport
- Alien Registration Card or Certificate of Alien Registration
- Certificate of Enrollment (issued by the MK Academic Affairs office)
- Proof of Residency (issued by IGC Housing)
Once you have created your bank account, you may pay your required housing fee amount through wire transfer. You will need the following additional documents to make the remittance.
- Housing Fee either in cash or deposited to your IBK account
- Housing Virtual IBK Bank Account Number
Method 2: Wire Transfer Without Bank Account
This is the method recommended for students staying not more than a semester in Mason Korea. Due to various complications and limitations in banking for international students in Korea, we recommend short-term students paying for housing using cash without creating a bank account in Korea.
If you choose not to create a bank account, you can withdraw cash with your international credit card. The most accepted credit cards in Korea are Mastercard and Visa. You can also use one of Korea's Western Unions prior to your arrival in Korea to access cash from your international bank and pick up cash upon arriving. The closest WU branch to campus is Industrial Bank of Korea (IBK).
Once you have withdrawn your required housing fee amount in cash to the bank and make your payment there. You will need the following documents to make the remittance.
- Passport
- Certificate of Enrollment (issued by the MK Academic Affairs office)
- Proof of Residency (issued by IGC Housing)
- Housing Fee in cash
- Housing Virtual IBK Bank Account Number

Direction
It is crucial that you adhere to the designated check-in period. IGC Housing enforces a strict check-in policy, and failure to check in during the assigned time without prior notice may result in the cancellation of your residency application. If you are unable to check in on time, you must submit a late check-in application in advance.
To apply for late check-in, send an email to IGC Housing directly at housing@igc.or.kr with your G number, name, and reason for late arrival.
If you are an international student and having difficulty getting the chest x-ray testing done in your home country, we recommend taking the test in Korea. Please refer to the following webpage for more information.
