Eligibility Requirements

Students must meet the following eligibility requirements, or they may not be eligible to apply for housing.

Enrollment Status: Students must be enrolled in Mason Korea classes for the semester in which they wish to reside in on-campus housing.
Conduct Record: Students may need to have a satisfactory conduct record with Mason Korea and IGC Housing to be eligible for on-campus housing.

Important Notice

Please check your Mason email regularly, as University Life communicates all housing-related updates via GMU email.
Double-check your IGC ID on the IGC Housing website before submitting your application, as an incorrect ID may result in application errors.
MK Way students need to apply during the New Students application period.

Applicants must have accounts with both Mason and IGC. Make sure you have online accounts with both before submitting your application.

Application Process

In order for students to be considered for residency in IGC Housing, applications must be submitted to the Office of University Life by the deadline specified below. Late applications cannot be accepted.

Priority Selection Criteria (Cont./Return.)

Continuing/returning students will be selected based on the proximity of their residences to the campus and their student classification. Priority will be given to those living farther from campus and lower-class students.

For the selection process, all applicants must submit supporting documents as per the guidelines outlined below:

Korean citizens & residents: Your Certificate of Household Register (본인 주민등록등본)
The certificate must include the following information
- Your recent address and date of address change
- Record of everyone in your household and your relationship to them
Foreigners without permanent residency in Korea: Alien registration card (ARC)

All documents for the application must be issued within 30 days of the application submission date. Determination of one's eligibility and priority will be conducted based on the records available at the time of the application. Within the same priority group, early applicants will have a higher priority.

Room Type & Preferences

Application Result and Payment

Students approved for the housing residency will be notified individually. The notification will be sent to your university email account. Students selected to live on campus for the term must log in to the IGC Housing website using their IGC account credentials and access My Page to check the following details;

Payment process

Paying for Housing as International Student

Check-In

You must check in to the IGC Housing office before moving into your room. Check-in is available during the designated period. During check-in, IGC Housing will inform you of your room number and grant you access to the residence hall.

Check-In is available between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM (except 12:00 - 1:00 PM) on the following days.

Resident Assistants (RAs): February 2
Student Leaders: February 9
New Students: February 23
Continuing Students: February 25 and 26

Required Documents

Student ID: Personal IDs such as resident/alien registration cards or passports are also acceptable.
Negative TB test result: Printed Chest X-ray result issued within 3 months from the date of check-in. Skin/blood tests are not accepted.

Packing Information

Provided Furnishings: Desk, chair, wardrobe, single-size mattress bed, stand, LAN cable, wifi router, and waste bin
Suggested to Bring: Pillow, bedding, hangers, shower caddy, towels, slippers, hair dryer, detergent, laundry bag, umbrella, nail clippers, medications, personal electronics, study materials, etc. The aforementioned items may also be purchased in Korea. Adapters and converters (see notes below).
Restricted Items: Electric pads and blankets, heaters, irons, stoves, cooling fans, rice cookers, hot plates, pots, and coffee makers.

*The standard voltage in South Korea is 220V. Make sure your items are usable (e.g., dual-voltage if bringing electronics from the United States).
*Be sure to pack any adapters and converters your devices may need, with extras to spare. It is much more difficult to obtain these items from within the country.

(Virtual Account Payment Guideline) - Wire transfer and credit card are not available to pay and you must pay using the virtual account system.
