How To Apply
First, you would need to contact your home institution's study abroad office to check if you are eligible to study at Mason Korea.
Here are several questions you would need to ascertain:
- Is the application period open to apply?
- Does Mason Korea offer courses that I can transfer back to my home institution?
- Do I have sufficient funds to study and live in Korea?
If you are a non-Korean passport holder, you would be required to apply for the D-2 (student) visa. Please contact the Korean Embassy/Consulate where you intend to apply to receive specific instructions and required documents to process your student visa. For more details, please contact Hannah Park (hpark42@gmu.edu).
Please contact your home institution's financial aid office to check if you are eligible to apply your financial aid to study at Mason Korea. We would also advise for you to contact your home institution's study abroad office to check if there are various funding opportunities, scholarships, and fellowships available that you may be eligible for to study at Mason Korea.

Pre-Departure
There are many things we strongly recommend you consider before you arrive in Korea. Please read the list below to start preparing!
- Familiarize yourself with the George Mason University Korea website, including the Mason Korea Academic Affairs and Mason Korea Student Affairs offices and their many resources.
- Apply for on-campus housing at Incheon Global Campus Housing – Main, or arrange for off-campus accommodation.
- Ensure you received your D-2 visa in your passport. Be sure to contact your local South Korea Embassy or Consulate if you have any issues.
- Consider any relevant medical needs or preferences and, if necessary, review South Korea’s regulations regarding bringing prescription medicine. Additionally, consider whether you need private health insurance and personal insurance.
- Consider contacting the Chingu Program to help ensure you are fully prepared for your time in Songdo, and to establish a personal connection before you even arrive.
- Explore how and when you should travel to Songdo from Incheon International Airport at Incheon Global Campus Housing – Directions.

All students who are planning to live on-campus must apply within the application period designated by IGC Housing and complete the required online application for consideration. Please read here for more information: IGC Housing. IGC Housing is operated and managed by the IGC Foundation.
Please contact your Residence Advisor before the check-in date.
If you are checking in outside of standard business hours, contact the Office of Student Affairs at mksa@gmu.edu with the following information: flight itinerary, date of
check-in, planned check-in time, and G Number.
Here is a summary of the steps you will need to follow for non-standard check-in times:
- Contact your Resident Advisor and the Office of Student Affairs.
- Arrive on campus.
- Visit the security office to check your G Number and name.
- Pick up your key and documents.
- You are all set, so head to your room and start unpacking!

Post-Arrival
After you have passed through Incheon International Airport's customs and immigration. You may follow the next steps:
1. Arrive on-campus. Directions to IGC
2. Check in to your dormitory
3. Participate in International Student Orientation
4. Sign up for student ID
5. Explore the neighborhood and familiarize your surroundings

Program Extension
If you would like to extend your study at Mason Korea, you would be required to contact your home institution's study abroad office and receive approval. Please refer to the following steps if you are planning to extend your study in Korea:
1. Contact your home institution to check if you are eligible to extend your study in Korea.
2. Check with Mason Korea's Office of Academic Affairs if courses are available for your enrollment.
3. You must extend your Alien Registration Card to have valid status to study in Korea.
Students may study at Mason Korea for a maximum of 2 semesters. If you wish you study longer, you would be required to transfer to Mason Korea to extend your study.

You will be eligible for on-campus housing when you confirm your decision to study at Mason Korea. For more details, please contact Hannah Park (hpark42@gmu.edu).
You would be eligible to live on-campus as long as you apply within the IGC Housing application period and pay the indicated amount before the payment deadline.
Returning to Home Country
- Inform Hannah Park (hpark42@gmu.edu) of your departure date at mkglobal@gmu.edu.
- Arrange your check-out date with your Resident Advisor. Your Resident Advisor will check the status of your room to make sure the room is in good condition.
- Close your bank account and cellphone account.
You need to submit your Alien Registration Card at the airport before your flight departing Korea. For more information, contact the Immigration Contact Center.
