Communication: COMM 450 - Internship in Communication
Objectives
Comm 450 offers an opportunity to receive on-the-job training through an approved experiential learning program. The focus of the internship is for students to work on projects that develop skills and/or apply theory in various areas of communication (interpersonal, organizational, public relations, media production, journalism, mass media, sports, health, and political communication).
COMM 450 class sessions are used to share internship experiences and assist students with any internship issues. Coursework includes career management and development, writing your resume and cover letter, practicing interview skills, reflecting by writing journal entries. Selected classes have industry professionals provide first-hand guidance and offer meaningful transition information.
General Questions
While COMM 450 is designated for Communication majors in the George Mason University catalogue, students who are not communication majors or do not meet some of the other criteria can take this course with permission of the department (School of Business students are not allowed to enroll in this course).

At Mason Korea, we offer a 3-credit COMM 450 course for the students.
Sixty percent of the internship grade is based on on-site supervisor evaluations, and forty percent of the internship grade is based on course engagement and assignment completion.
Students can work as a PR representative in the Mason Korea Public Relations office and complete the required work hours to earn credits.
