Referrals

Faculty who wish to refer a student to the Committee of Academic Integrity for a violation of the Honor Code must submit a complete referral pursuant to the directions below. Please be sure to consider the Honor Code Sanction Recommendations when filling out the referral.

  1. Complete the online Academic Integrity Referral form.
  2. Email the following to mkcai@gmu.edu in a single email:
    • One copy of your course syllabus; and
    • All other materials relevant to the case that you deem necessary to show an alleged violation took place. Relevant materials may include SafeAssign reports, copies of documents the student is alleged to have used in their submission, or electronic monitoring reports that detect coding similarities (these must be submitted in PDF format).

If it appears a form referenced in your referral form is missing, a Committee of Academic Integrity advisor will contact you to ask whether you plan to include it, but will not ask with regard to information you fail to reference or provide. Students are entitled access to any materials that are being considered in their case. Please note a failure to include all required material may result in your case being dismissed against the student.
